To Reach Pueblo - To Live the Life
our mission is the same as every other church in history. The Great Commission states: “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
The Great Commission presents several things:
- The authority of this mission - from Jesus
- The task - go make disciples (starting with evangelism and through discipleship)
- The scope - all nations, or all people groups.
- The beginning of that task - baptism (evidence of salvation)
- The end goal of that task - obedience to Jesus (mature Christian living)
- The oversight and comfort in the task - Jesus is always present
We summarize that as “To Reach Pueblo and To Live the Life”
“To Reach Pueblo” - With the Gospel, the message of salvation
“To Live the Life” - Imitating Jesus Christ in all we say and do
See Romans 10:14-15; 1 Peter 3:15; Mark 16:15,16; Colossians 4:6; Romans 1:16; Matthew 5:16; 1 Corinthians 11:1, 1 John 2:6, Romans 8:29, Philippians 4:9, Colossians 3:12,13; 1 Corinthians 10:31, James 1:22; and Romans 12:1,2
We keep this question in front of us: "If we shut our doors and ceased to exist one day, would the homes, businesses and community around us even notice?" We want our love and service in the name of Jesus to be so visible that even the harshest critic of Christianity would see our love for them in tangible ways.
Calvary Church is not about activities and events to fill our spiritual calendar. We want to make Jesus known.
